RAPP holds 50th Blood Donation

According to the Association of Blood Donors (IKDD) the company Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sukanto Tanoto, has recently held its 50th blood donation drive. They even managed to exceed their target donation of 500 units by 14 units, donating 514 units in total for their 50th donation.

H. Raylus Nurdin, Chairman of IKDD, said that since the establishment of IKDD with RAPP in 2000, the company employees have collect and donated 3.5 million cc of blood. If the employees of RAPP continue to participate in the blood donation drive as they have been doing, IKDD estimates that by the time they hold their 60th blood donation drive a total of 5 million cc’s will have been donated.

RAPP’s support of the IKDD has allowed the Association the opportunity to keep growing to the point where it is now able to start holding blood drives every two months.

The Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI)) of Riau province has declared its intent to work together with IKDD and RAPP to break the Indonesian World Record Museum for the blood donor category with the most participants; and want to organise a simultaneous blood donation drive with PMI from other districts in order to break the existing record.

Besides the fact that donating blood saves lives the director of RAPP, Rudi Fajar, is amazed with the realisation that in blood donation all people are equal. “There was no talk of ethnicity, religion or race, it all just boils down to one interest, namely donate blood for humanity.”

The blood donation drive held by RAPP is in accordance with the company’s four C’s philosophy, implemented by Sukanto Tanoto, which states that all company operations should be: good for the community, good for the country, good for the climate and good for the company.
